Does anyone know of or are there currently any motorcycle clubs in Tucson dedicated solely to riding sportbikes and improving the community?

HMMM, I hope its different than the shoryders, cuz they must be awesome riders, way above my skill level.

Looks like all they wear is a vest or a back protecter, helmets, and gloves, must be really good at sliding on their backs if something goes wrong.

The Sho Ryders are a different bunch than us.  Not better or worse, just different.  They're riding focus is different than most of our group.

You can meet some of them out at Mama's Pizza on Thursdays.

I was just wondering, when I searched online nothing was coming up and curiosity wins over content.  Besides I like these forums and seeing as how I'm new to this site I didnt know that it functioned as a club also.  I'm just more familiar with the classic club layout and heirarchy (for all I know you might have that established here).

Right after I posted that I thought more about it, and probably should have deleted it, no one here really knows me.

I didn't mean anything by it, wasn't trying to make comparisons other than with myself. I was actually making fun of myself and my "sliding abilities" (thats why I wear what I do.)

I was riding my cruiser bike all the time before the VFR, and that crowd was much different also. just not for me, Sho Ryders reminded me of the cruisin crowd by the pics on their site.

When I met a few or you in Arivaca it was the 1st time I was impressed with "sport bike" riders, actually had gear on, and didn't ride into the parking lot in one big group, that told me that everyone was riding at their own pace.

Done rambling now

No worries, Cruzin.

I'm not butt hurt or nothing ;-).

I kind of look at it as a group or extended family...not necessarily a club and we are definitely more than just a forum because we are all within Tucson.

I guess the core people that started this big ball rolling shared the same ideas about riding philosophy and friendship.  It's just kind of grown from there, but we keep those beliefs (safety, in every aspect of riding, and having fun) and those that don't share those views usually don't stick around.

Anyway, no worries and don't give anymore people ideas about running for an office ;-).

After tonight I realise that these forums are more than any club I could ever be a part of. If half the people here are half as nice as Wonka then I can see that I have found a new family.

cruzinaz,

If you have anything more to say about the sho-ryders please feel free to PM me, or get my info from Will.  Not going to start an internet drama, so dont talk about what you dont understand.

Anyhow, to the original poster, just go around and hang out with people, see what you like.  Will and alot of the other people here are really nice, you will mesh with some better then others of course, i you want to get to know the sho-ryders more let me know.

Tony

In case y'all couldn't tell, Tony is a Sho-Ryder.

And in my opinion, Tony is the coolest Sho-Ryder I know.

Like I said, the Sho-Ryders are a different group than us...not better or worse...just different.  I think it's true that some people don't know them that well or what they're about and so impressions and assumptions go wild.  If you are interested in learning more about the Sho-Ryders, Tony is your man (Doug is also on here too I think but I forget his screenname).

I have attended their spring BBQ since I moved to Tucson and it was a great experience.  It was weird, yet awesome to see all of these different groups of people hanging out and mingling.  I mean, you had the stuntas, the canyon carvers, the harley lifers....amazing.

Anyway, I don't think Cruzin meant anything by it, just that maybe he doesn't know what the Sho-Ryders are all about.  And Tony, as always, is a level head and thanks for stepping up to explain about the Sho-Ryders.

P.S.--Tony, man, you are posting now more than ever on TARF, huh?  I like it ;-).  Also, if you get the time, maybe you could post up in your own words what the Sho-Ryders are from your perspective?  Oh, and has Danny called you yet?  He decided he's not gonna go with DDC.  And btw, come out to next Tuesday if you can...hell, you can even drive the beemer ;-).

Thanks will for the kind words.

Basically the Sho-Ryders is just people who like motorcycles, thats it.  There are some that do have crusier, the one that loves the canyon, the ones that loves the race track like me, and the stunter, I think every form of motorcycle life is covered.  I think people just see a huge organized group and make up their own oppinion, and that is why we throw the BBQ every year, to get some of those misconception rid of and to bring the whole community of bikers together.

Anyhow, most people dont know this but I am acutally a retired member of the Sho-Ryders, which means I am no longer a current active memeber but can be if i choose to be.  These guys and gals are like a second family to me, we have been through alot together, I just dont have time in my life to dedicate a much time as i need to be a member.  As you can see I take a little offense when someone says things about it but its just a misunderstanding so no biggie.

Anyhow, thats my long essay, lol.  hopefully i'll see you guys out sometimes, but i usually work at late afternoon till early morning now so its kinda hard.

T

Here's a little insight into the term 'motorcycle club'.

If you want to start a "Motorcycle Club", there are rules. What you have on this forum, and in many other informal riding groups, is just that: a group.

When you attach the term "Motorcycle Club" to it, and you start wearing "colors" (the vest/gear with your logo, etc), you enter into a slightly different world. And that world has rules.

Those of you that have seen the Sho Ryders organization grow, will probably remember, that they have not always been an "MC". I'm not sure when that happened, but now that they are, you will find them listed in the clubs roster on the Arizona Confederation of Motorcycle Clubs web site. http://www.acmc.org. They're listed up there with The Huns, The Hells Angels, The Sober Riders, The Rough Riders, and others.

TonyN, if you want to shed some light on how your Club had to go through the process, that would be cool. In any case, congratulations.

Not everyone gets to have a "Club". I know a couple of fellas that got denied in no uncertain terms the abilitiy to wear "mc" on their vests.

It's an interesting subset of the motorcycle culture. I find it fascinating. Anyway, just some trivia I thought you guys might find interesting.

The Sho Ryders are Tucson's version of the "Biker Boyz". :lol  Just kidding. They're all pretty cool guys, and they reeeeeeeally like to ride fast. "Busa fast". That's a new term I just created. Is that a "Dirkism" word? We'll have to ask Desmo for a ruling. Anyway, our group is pretty laid back, and we just like to go out and have fun. No rules, no vests, just a bunch of friends that enjoy hanging out on occasion. However, if you want to ride with us on a regular basis you must ride a one handed wheelie for 3 miles going a minimum of 100mph. We make Hells Angels look like a bunch of panzies. :) By the way, if you believe this I have some beach front property by the Tortolina Mountains for sale. Real cheap.

Let's not forget the Tucson Ruff Ryders Chapter.  I know that I met a couple of the Sho ryders on the street, and we are all like a big family who share the same passion and love of riding (even though I am a Ruff Ryder).  Also, I am new to the area, and coming from Colorado Springs (where I was with the Colorado Ruff Ryders) and man do I love Arizona already!   Seems like great people everywhere I go...
